I tested Cyberghost for torrenting from the UK using one of its dedicated torrenting servers in Germany with qBittorrent on Windows. 🔍
The setup wasn't completely straightforward. When qBittorrent was set to use "Any interface", I ran an ip leak torrent test and it detected both my Cyberghost IP and my real IPv4 address. Not exactly what you want to see when you're testing a VPN for torrenting.
I then bound qBittorrent directly to the Cyberghost Wireguard network interface and ran the test again. This time, ip leak test only detected the Cyberghost IP.
For the actual download test, I used the official Ubuntu torrent. Connected to the German Cyberghost server, I reached around 14.1 MiB/s. I repeated the same download without the VPN and got around 13.1 MiB/s so I didn't see any noticeable speed loss despite connecting from the UK to Germany.
Torrenting itself was fast and worked without issues once qBittorrent was bound to Cyberghost. The IP leak I saw with "Any interface" would make me cautious about using the default qBittorrent setup though.
