What users report

Users have mixed experiences with CyberGhost for streaming. Dedicated streaming servers are generally effective, with some reporting minimal speed reductions and smooth streaming, particularly for Netflix and Amazon Prime. However, server choice is crucial as regular servers often fail to bypass geoblocks, with users facing issues accessing platforms like BBC iPlayer, Hulu, and ITVX. Speed performance varies; some report significant drops, particularly on mobile data. While some appreciate ad-free viewing on platforms like YouTube, others encounter login and detection problems, highlighting inconsistency in service reliability.

CyberGhost Amazon Prime Speed Test Results (UK & US Servers)

I've tested Cyberghost with Amazon Prime using a UK account . Without a VPN my download speed was 148.88 Mbps. I then connected to the dedicated UK Amazon prime server and got 144.84 Mbps which is only about a 3% drop. Videos loaded fine with no buffering.

I also tested the dedicated US Amazon prime server and got around a 7% drop in download speed. When using the US server, Amazon site displayed a message saying that some titles might be unavailable because I'm based outside the US. I assume that's related to my account being UK based, so I can't say whether this was related to Cyberghost or the region associated with my account 🤷‍♂️

Overall, the speeds were decent on both the UK and US dedicated servers. The UK server worked well with my UK prime account.

CyberGhost for Hulu US Server: UK Disney+ Accounts Don't Work

I tested CyberGhost for Hulu from the UK 🧪

I started with the dedicated Hulu us streaming server. The hulu website loaded without any problems (from the UK, it usually redirects to the Disney site) but when I tried to log in using my existing UK Disney account, the one time passcode kept being rejected. I tried it more than once but couldn't get past the login.

To check whether my Disney account was the problem, I disconnected from Cyberghost and logged into Disney+ normally. The same account and login process worked straight away.

I then connected to a random US server (not the dedicated Hulu server) and tried again. Interestingly enough, this time it worked and I was able to log into Hulu. I then tried to watch a tv show but couldn't get past the Hulu subscription plan page.

After selecting a plan, Hulu recognized that I already had a Disney account and redirected me to Disney+ to manage the subscription. At that point, Disney detected the VPN and I couldn't continue.

So Cyberghost worked partially in my test. A regular US server actually got me further than the dedicated Hulu server 😂. I wonder if it would have worked fully if I'd had a US account instead of my UK one.

CyberGhost Streaming: Reliable with US Server for Disney+

I bought a subscription just to test Cyberghost with Disney+ (so you don't have to 😂)...

It worked with Disney+ in my testing but only through its dedicated US streaming server. Disney+ detected the VPN on both UK servers, the regular US server and the dedicated French server.

The working US server delivered 130 Mbps, compared with my 148.87 Mbps baseline, a 12.7% reduction and streamed smoothly without being blocked

CyberGhost Fails to Stream ITVX on UK Servers

I tested Cyberghost on a couple of UK servers using a free ITVX account but it didn't work. There were no VPN detection errors or warning messages. The video player simply wouldn't play.

CyberGhost Excels for BBC iPlayer Despite Speed Drop

I tried CyberGhost with BBC iPlayer, starting with its dedicated UK streaming server. It worked straight away. BBC iPlayer didn’t detect the VPN and streaming was smooth, although my download speed took a pretty big hit, dropping by around 60%.

Regular UK servers? No luck. BBC iPlayer detected the VPN before I even made it to the login page.

CyberGhost Netflix Test: UK & US Server Results

One thing I really liked about CyberGhost is its dedicated streaming servers, including ones optimized for Netflix. Since I live in the UK, I first tested a nearby UK server and it reduced my download speed by just 3%.

I then connected to a US server to access the American Netflix library and even though my download speed dropped by around 11%, I was still able to stream in 4K without any buffering.

If your main reason for getting a VPN is watching Netflix, I would definitely recommend it.
