Is CyberGhost Safe?

Yes, CyberGhost is generally considered a safe VPN to use. It encrypts your internet traffic and supports modern VPN protocols including WireGuard and OpenVPN. It also includes security features such as a kill switch and DNS leak protection.

CyberGhost operates a no-logs policy and is based in Romania, outside the 5, 9 and 14 Eyes intelligence-sharing alliances. Its no-logs policy has also been independently audited.

There are still some things worth being aware of. In our own CyberGhost torrenting test (test link), our real IP address was exposed when qBittorrent was left on its default "Any interface" setting. After binding qBittorrent directly to the CyberGhost WireGuard interface, the leak disappeared. This was a configuration issue rather than evidence that CyberGhost's VPN tunnel itself was leaking, but it's something torrent users should check.

For everyday browsing, public Wi-Fi and preventing your ISP from seeing your internet traffic, CyberGhost provides the security features most people would expect from a reputable VPN.
